Trip to Jim Thorpe
We took a Sunday as a family to go to Jim Thorpe, PA, which is a train station and authentic little town built in the mountains of Jim Thorpe. We loved it. Savannah absolutely loved it. She was so excited to see the trains, because she is going through a phase right now that she loves trains. It started a couple months ago because she heres the local train go by every week. When she hears it, she jumps up and says "choo-choo". So, when I told her we were going to see the trains, she got s excited. She got to go on her first train ride in the old fashioned passenger train, and was sticking her head out the window the entire time, looking out at the people go by on the walking path following the tracks. She waved the the people below and yelled "hi" to them and they said "hi" back. It was so adorable. Her and her cousin, Talya, sat on the train and said "choo-choo" to each other because they were both excited about being on a real train! Before the train ride, we went to go shopping in the town. There was cute, little stores inside the old stone houses. They used to be houses that belonged to millionaires back in the day. Jim Thorpe was an upscale place to live at the time. I love to go to places with history and authentic appeal. I love the look of anything old and weathered down. Thats why I loved the look of this town. We got some cute pictures of Savannah and Talya in there little overalls sitting on the stairs of one of these buildings. They were dressed appropriately is overalls for a day at the train station...what a typical little conductor type outfit. And it was cute how they were matching in there overalls, and it wasnt even planned that way. Me and my sister dressed them...good minds think alike :) After the train ride, we went down to the creek running past the tracks and enjoyed some time together throwing rocks in the water. The girls had so much fun with it. After that, drove to a restaurant built up on the mountain and had beautiful scenery overlooking the surrounding area. By the end of the day, Savannah and Talya were exausted. It was a long, fun, and memorable day for all of us! The day after Savannah was talking about the trains. I love how excited she gets about every little detail of life, I thrive to be more like her! Heres pictures of our day...
